Frequently Asked Warranty Questions

What does my car warranty cover?

With Warranty Solutions Group, your vehicle can be covered for a wide range of parts and the labour times involved to repair or replace them.

Platinum and Gold plans cover around 6,000 mechanical, electrical and electronic components, including many items that are normally excluded by other warranty companies.

Silver covers a range of listed items and is designed with older or higher-mileage vehicles in mind.

What is not covered?

Naturally, there are some parts and faults that cannot be covered, such as bodywork, trim, general maintenance and service items.

Platinum and Gold plans are designed so that anything not listed under exclusions is covered. Silver plans list the covered items, so anything not shown is specifically excluded.

What happens if my car exceeds the age or mileage parameters?

The age and mileage parameters of standard car warranties only apply to the vehicle at the warranty start date. If you exceed these parameters during your warranty term, your cover continues for the remainder of the policy.

The exception is Platinum warranty wear and tear cover, which applies until the vehicle reaches 100,000 miles. After this, the wear and tear element ceases, but the rest of the cover remains the same.

How many claims can I make?

You can make unlimited claims, with each claim up to your chosen claim limit and up to the current market value of your car at the time of claim. Claims include the cost of parts, labour and VAT.

How do I make a claim?

Before any work is carried out, you must contact the claims team on 0800 060 8610. An authorisation code must be provided to the garage before repairs are completed.

Please note: repairs carried out without authorisation may not be paid for.

What is a used car warranty?

A used car warranty is a written guarantee covering selected mechanical, electrical and electronic parts against sudden failure. It is designed to pay for some or all of the costs involved with repairing or replacing those parts within a certain time frame.

Modern vehicles contain thousands of complex moving components. When something goes wrong, repair bills can quickly become expensive. A used car warranty can help reduce the cost of unexpected repairs.

Why might my warranty be different to the information above?

Some dealers offer customised products, so your cover may have some differences compared with the standard Warranty Solutions Group range. If you would like to discuss the cover you have been offered, please contact us or speak to your dealer.

How do I take out a Warranty Solutions Group warranty?

You will need to purchase a used car from an approved dealership to receive or be offered a Warranty Solutions Group motor warranty. In most cases, your plan can then be upgraded or extended around the start date, or renewed around the expiry date.

Do I need to use one of their garages?

In most cases, you can choose whether to use the Warranty Solutions Group repairer network or your own VAT-registered garage. They work directly with hundreds of garages across the UK, which means claims can often be settled directly with the repairer.

If you use your own garage, please bear in mind that there may be a set labour rate, so any excess labour charges above this may be your responsibility. The garage may also require you to settle the bill first, in which case reimbursement can be arranged once the repair invoice and any requested documents have been received.

Depending on the nature of the claim, your vehicle may need to be inspected by a specialist repairer, such as those specialising in turbos, gearboxes, engines, drivetrains, ECUs or power steering.
